Case Studies

Network Rail, UK
Network Rail is the UK's rail operator responsible for all the fixed infrastructure nationally. As part of Alcatel-Lucent's telecom infrastructure, Cramer's inventory is used to model and manage the network services for Network Rail's GSM-R safety system, which allows drivers and signalmen to communicate directly by phone in an emergency. The contract was awarded in October 2005, and has been operation since 2006.

Telekom Austria

"A key strategic goal for our wireline business is to optimize costs and investments in the area of infrastructure and technology. With the Alcatel and Amdocs Cramer joint solution, Telekom Austria will have the required OSS platform to achieve flexibility and process performance as we expand to offer next generation broadband services."

-Helmut Leopold
Managing Director of Product and Technology Management for Telekom Austria
Telekom Austria is Austria's incumbent telco operator serving over 3 million customer with voice, broadband & TV services. By leveraging Alcatel-Lucent's long standing relationship with Telekom Austria, Amdocs was able to sell a strategic OSSsolution built on the Cramer OSS Suite and utilizing Alcatel's industry-leading equipment and integration expertise. The solution will automate the end-to-end fulfillment of services for Telekom Austria, including "triple play" bundles of voice, video and Internet services. Alcatel and Cramer will deliver complete process automation based on a single inventory core, which allows carriers to accelerate service introduction, to fulfill large volumes of customer orders more quickly and accurately, and to dramatically reduce the total cost of ownership for their operations support systems (OSS).

CFE, Mexico
Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE), Mexico's national power company, which currently provides electrical service to nearly 80 million Mexicans, is completing deployment of a 22 thousand kilometer fiber optic network across the country, which will be the second largest in Mexico. The transmission infrastructure will serve as the conduit for voice and data that will be delivered using powerline communications (PLC) technology.

The project was awarded to Alcatel-Lucent in Jan 2006, who will act as the prime integrator deploying Amdocs' Cramer6 OSS Suite to model the network and services in CFE's fibre network. Cramer6 OSS Suitewill become the centerpiece of CFE's operations support systems (OSS) environment.
