SINGAPORE, June 23, 2011: Amdocs (NYSE: DOX), the leading provider of customer experience systems, today released the findings of a research report that shows increasing adoption of managed services strategies by communications service providers in developing Asia. The research was conducted by leading analyst firm Analysys Mason. The announcement was made at the 2011 Asia Pacific InTouch Business Forum, Amdocs’ customer and partner event taking place this week in Singapore.
“The pace at which technology is evolving, coupled with the massive growth in subscribers, is creating a challenge for service providers in the region who are finding it difficult to re-align and scale their B/OSS operations on their own,” said Kunal Bajaj, partner and director at Analysys Mason. “Providers are recognizing that by outsourcing these parts of their operation to an experienced vendor like Amdocs, they can achieve their business objectives quickly and with minimum risk.”
Among the key research findings:
- Managed services revenues in developing Asia are estimated to grow at a 10.2% CAGR. In comparison, managed services revenues in developed Asia and in Central and Latin America are expected to grow at 6.4% and 8.2% CAGR, respectively
- Managed services strategies in developing Asia are deployed to improve the probability of project success by establishing a single point of accountability, which also results in faster delivery of new services. Managed services strategies are also deployed to allow the operational scalability required to support rapid subscriber growth [note: subscriber counts in developing Asia are growing at a rate of 20 percent per year, approximately double the global subscriber growth rate].
In 2010, Amdocs signed new managed services agreements with communications service providers to support nearly 200 million additional subscribers across North America, Europe and Asia. Of these agreements, four were in developing Asia. Amdocs is the only managed services vendor in Asia which also offers a comprehensive portfolio of B/OSS software systems.
Among Amdocs’ successful managed services engagements in Asia during 2010 are:
- A project to manage multiple B/OSS systems at a large mobile operator. As a result, the provider is able to meet aggressive, time-to-market deadlines and support rapid growth of retail and wholesale operations with gradual, low-risk investments;
- A project to deploy a modern next generation Amdocs BSS system in a managed services model at one of the leading media and broadband service providers in Asia to achieve improved time-to-market and support hundreds of service agents for reduced call handling times. Millions of subscribers were migrated onto the Amdocs systems in one night.
“With the introduction of 3G and multi-play offerings into the marketplace, service providers in developing Asia are racing to modernize systems and increase operational efficiencies,” said Abhay Kumar, vice president, Amdocs Global Strategic Sourcing. “These service providers must be first with new offerings and excel in customer service if they are to retain and capture market share. We are seeing a growing adoption of managed services strategies in the region to achieve this.”
Amdocs has been delivering managed services to communications and media service providers of all sizes around the world for nearly 30 years. Today, Amdocs supports more than 300 million subscribers in a managed services model. In Asia Pacific Amdocs has provided managed services for more than 12 years and has two managed services centers in the region, in India and Australia.
