In the fast-paced telecom world, automated network operations are key to ensure a seamless customer experience. To get there, you need a partner who is already building the solution. While others paint a pretty picture, Amdocs is delivering results.
As I contemplated my recent Temu purchase over breakfast, the chorus of Taylor Swift’s “Message in a bottle” interrupted my thoughts from my phone. With a quick glance, I saw the alert that my package was already waiting at the collection point near my office. I jumped in the car, and my smartwatch directed me (in Japanese, which I’m doing my hardest to learn) to the fastest route to get there based on real-time traffic.
Behind this all were smart networks, quietly adapting and optimizing my day without me even noticing.
But what if networks were not just smart, but truly autonomous—self-optimizing, self-healing, and always one step ahead?
With the advent of AI, this vision is rapidly becoming a reality, transforming the way we think about connectivity and network management.
And while vision is yet to be fully realized, we've identified five key steps that we believe will ultimately lead us to truly autonomous networks:
- Talk to your network: Build a single source of truth for all network information, allowing you to ask questions such as how to write a script for a given network element, or what an error code might mean.
- NetOps: Let AI help with troubleshooting, identifying the root cause of issues and helping to recommend a solution.
- Design assistant: With more advanced capabilities, a GenAI-based solution can recommend network design, whether optimizing an existing network through placement of additional cells or building a new greenfield network.
- Digital twins: Simulate, predict and plan network evolution leveraging the power of AI.
- Full autonomy: “Turn out the lights” and let the network run itself, with true-zero touch network ops!
So, what are we at Amdocs doing to make this a reality?
Here are just a few examples:
- We’ve partnered with a leading service provider in North America to build a knowledge center for all their network gear, providing network engineers with a single place to ask questions about anything in the network, and get back rapid, accurate responses – greatly reducing the number of escalations.
- We’ve helped streamline the reporting process for another of our customers, pulling data from thousands of contracts, allowing them to quickly and easily generate ad hoc reports about their network, such as lease terms, saving them millions of dollars.
Also recently, we joined the AI RAN Alliance, a group of leading players in the RAN ecosystem, who are teaming up to help drive greater innovation in the areas of AI and RAN in all its permutations.
And these initiatives are just the beginning. As we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible, the future of autonomous networks becomes increasingly exciting. Perhaps one day they'll even help me master Japanese through AI-powered immersive experiences while anticipating my online shopping needs before I’m even aware of them!
