Amdocs, TELUS and Times Change joined forces in a Toronto hands-on workshop to equip women with practical career support and tools to thrive in today's evolving job market with the help of Generative AI.

It's not always the most obvious way that new technology is best applied. Amdocs is introducing a new partnership with TELUS and Times Change Women's Employment Service, bringing Generative AI into the hands of job seekers to develop practical skills, confidence and increased access to opportunity.

Instead of innovation and community investment being two separate programs, the partnership combines them in an experiential format, helping participants leverage AI throughout their career journey. From understanding today's job market and building stronger resumes to preparing for interviews and gaining confidence in their professional stories, participants explored practical ways AI can support every stage of the job search process.

That idea was realized in the form of a four-hour workshop on "CVs & Interviewing in the Age of AI" on August 26 at Amdocs' Toronto office, created in partnership with Times Change, a women's career development organization.

The 12 participants worked alongside Amdocs and TELUS volunteers for more than four hours, learning how Generative AI can be a practical career companion. Participants used AI tools to optimize resumes for Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), research employers, prepare interview responses, refine personal branding, and navigate an increasingly digital job market.

A highlight of the day was a series of mock interviews conducted by volunteers from Amdocs and TELUS. These personalized coaching sessions gave participants the opportunity to practice in a real-world setting, receive individualized feedback, and explore how AI could be used to prepare for interviews, strengthen responses, and build confidence.

The workshop was executive sponsored by Amanda Palmer, Director at TELUS, and was gifted by the presence of Ivey Chiu, Head of TELUS AI Research Partnerships, underscoring TELUS' commitment to responsible AI adoption and community impact. TELUS volunteers, including Kirti Mani, Chief Procurement Officer, generously donated their time and expertise throughout the day. Amdocs' IT department also contributed 12 laptops to Times Change, helping expand the organization's ability to support women seeking employment and digital skills development.

What started as a technical, skills-based session soon evolved into a broader conversation. Discussions moved beyond resumes and interview strategies to topics such as confidence, resilience, adaptability, and how emerging technologies can empower people to navigate change and create new opportunities.

That shift was, by all accounts, the most important part of the day. It served as a reminder that the relationship between people and technology is about more than access to tools. It requires trust, encouragement, mentorship, and organizations willing to meet people where they are and help them envision what is possible.

It's a framework on which Amdocs, TELUS and Times Change plan to build. This first workshop is just the beginning for the three organizations, which are already exploring future opportunities to combine technology, education and community investment to help build a workforce prepared for what lies ahead.
