Whether we’re broadcasting from Amdocs’ studio at Mobile World Congress, or from my home office in Toronto during lockdown, I think the reason why The Great Indoors is such a different technology podcast is because we don’t focus on the technology – we focus on the people who are building or challenging it.

12 seasons, and over 200 fascinating guests later – from Erin Brockovich to C-level operators – we’ve won two industry awards, so we must be doing something right!

“On air” (and you’d never know we’re surrounded by 110,000 people)

In the middle of the chaos and noise of 110,000 MWC delegates and booths flashing corporate slogans like "Intelligent Innovation", personally, I still get excited when the studio’s ‘on air’ red light goes on signalling that the microphones are live. Guests might arrive a little tired (aka “conferenced-out”), or occasionally a little nervous, equipped with a mental list of corporate talking points. But once that light comes on and the headphones are over their ears, it’s just two or three people having a relaxed conversation.

And yes, we’ll talk about innovative use cases, disruptors, digital brands, agentic AI, 6G, unusual strategies, security, MVNxs and other concerns (“do you know what happens to your data when you die?”) and many, many others. But there’s also cricket, the best cure for jet lag, how to identify a whistleblower, Superman, Harry Potter, the industry’s love of acronyms, flamenco vs ballet, and how 8.00am meetings just shouldn’t be allowed.

And one of the best parts of it for me? It’s that unscripted moment when the corporate messaging disappears and someone tells you what they actually think.

Listen to the human perspectives for yourselves:

A few snippets from our 120+ sessions:

Randi Zuckerberg CEO, Zuckerberg Media: “I think storytelling is the number one thing that's important about marketing people. I mean, so long gone are the days where people are, you know, just looking for a product to catch their eye. People want connection. They want to know that a brand has a sense of humor or a personality, that it stands for something, that it's tied to a cause that they're connected to, that the founders are in line with their vision”.

Erin Brockovich, Environmentalist: “I think the social media, the internet is a double edged sword and I don't rely on it for everything. It actually has its purpose. But things change when you hear a voice and its inflections. Things really change when you're there in person and you can see if they're upset or if someone's not going to look at you. I'll go in a room and just sit and I can find that whistleblower, if you will. They might not want to address you. You can feel the fear or the anxiety, the anger, the frustration. You can see it. You can experience it. And sometimes I feel like we hide behind the internet and social media, and we become disconnected in a way because of that. I have to be with the community. I have to be out there and see it and feel it otherwise, you will miss it.”

Stephanie Ormston, Assistant VP, Product Innovation AT&T: “at the end of the day, we're serving customers. We're serving customer needs and we're serving those most basic feelings of: I'm connected, I feel secure, I feel safe, I can talk to my loved ones, I can reach out to my family, I can go check my camera at home to make sure my dog's okay. Whatever that is, it's a very human thing that we serve at the end of the day”

Anton Reynaldo Bonifacio, CAIO, CISO, EVP, Globe Telecom: “Fraud in the scam economy - it’s really targeting and hurting people, especially a third-world country where the goal is financial inclusion… I think yesterday during one of the GSMA impact CEO roundtables, we're still probably the only telco in the world where as long as an SMS has a link in it, we don't deliver it. Period.”

SEE YOU LIVE FROM MWC26

We had 25 executive guests at MWC25, and we’re back in Barcelona again this year broadcasting live from our Amdocs studio at MWC26 with a fantastic lineup of new guests.

Personally, I can’t wait for that ‘on air’ light to switch on again.

Join us at MWC 2026

Amdocs recently introduced aOS, the world's first agentic operating system purpose-built for telecommunications. At MWC 2026, we’re showcasing how it works in practice.
