Frontier Organizations, Sovereign Systems, and the New Rules of AI

Recorded live at Mobile World Congress 2026, this episode of The Great Indoors pairs two sharply different but deeply connected conversations about the future of enterprise technology. In the first, Kathleen Mitford, Corporate VP, Global Industry Marketing at Microsoft, joins Liliana Schwartz Bruner, Amdocs GM, and Matthew Roberts to explain why AI leadership can no longer sit inside technical teams alone. As organizations push to become frontier organizations, AI is beginning to reshape not just productivity, but how marketing, sales, and leadership work together, how decisions are made, and how new growth opportunities are identified. The message is clear: the future will not belong to companies that simply adopt AI tools, but to those that know how to apply them with purpose.

The second conversation, with Chris Antlitz, Principal Telecom Analyst at TBR, as he steps back to examine the wider landscape. Here, the focus shifts to sovereignty, trust, infrastructure constraints, geopolitical pressure, and the growing sense that the market is entering a necessary recalibration. From satellite and quantum to the limits of current AI deployment, Chris offers a candid assessment of what is real, what is overestimated, and what business leaders should be watching next.

“At Microsoft, we consider ourselves to be frontier marketers. We are customer number one for the tools that Microsoft uses. We're using AI to transform how we do marketing within my organization. So allowing us to use the tools to get better insights into our customers, to use AI to really drive that connection between marketing and sales, and to be able to respond at a speed that is at the speed of consumers and speed of customers instead of having to wait and lag until all of the data is available for us. I think that's something that's actually pretty exciting about being a marketer is the speed at which we can move, the access to data that we have, and how that allows us to drive insights which have a positive impact on revenue for the company.”

“I think that's how you gain trust. When you bring someone that really specializes in one domain, that's when you're actually getting more trust because you're getting better results, better outcomes. I think you understand the domain using your software, your AI, but with verticals like us, like telecommunication verticals, you gain more trust.”

“I think we're going to see a tremendous amount of government spending coming into the ecosystem at a level that is completely unprecedented. I think that there's countries, so the sovereignty thing is such a big thing, that the national security implications are so profound that we're going to see a lot of money coming in. We already see it in the Middle East, for example in Saudi Arabia, you know the sovereign wealth funds they're deploying a lot of money in this stuff in Europe we're seeing money be deployed. There's money allocated. We're going to be seeing more.”
