Is data the oil that powers the digital economy?
In this episode, host Matt Roberts of Amdocs sits down with his next two guests at the Las Vegas Convention Center MWC 2022 for a discussion on new and emerging technologies surrounding 5G. First, he speaks with Chris Gladwin, CEO of Ocient.
“We've entered the time where humans can't ever look at the data. So in a million scale, if there's a million rows or even a billion rows, you could have a bunch of your tech ops people dig into the log files because they'd often just end up having to do that. The challenge at trillion scale. Is if you were to print out a trillion rows, it would circle the earth 73 times. And if you were to try to scroll through that with the assumption of hitting the down key two times a second, it would take 600 years. Like, humans cannot look at this. So what this really means is the tools for data analysis, relational database, machine learning, things like that. You must use them.”
Next, he sits down with Blake Wetzel, the COO and CRO of Terago. Both guests share their perspective on the new technologies coalescing around the 5G revolution, and how these changes factor into their own business models. They also discuss current trends in data analytics, new 5G use cases, and the unfolding of the next industrial revolution.
“Canada is always left off the map. As an American working for a Canadian company, I get very frustrated because I see the potential. I've gotten to work a lot in the Canadian market and the businesses there. I think it's because there's a mindset of they'll follow in a few years. And I don't think that's fair to the Canadian people. So my ask to everybody would be, don’t forget about Canada. It's an incredible place and it's a wonderful place to do business and people should start thinking about it.”
