Why are diversity and collaboration essential for the tech evolution?
In this episode, host Matt Roberts of Amdocs sits down with three guests at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 in Barcelona, Spain:
- Lara Dewar, CMO at GSMA
- Jillian Kaplan, Telecom & 5G Thought Leadership at Dell Technologies
- Sandro Tavares, Director of Telecom Solutions Marketing at Dell Technologies
“The other thing about Exhibit ‘A’ brewery is that they don't have an IT department. They're a staff of ten. So the fact that we were able to do this without interrupting anything. We didn't. They can't take time away from brewing. They're a small brewery. They can't shut off at any point and they don't need someone on site that that can maintain it. It's extremely simple for them. I mean, they've said we revolutionized the way that they've been able to look at their business which is huge. And I love that a big company like Dell is able to go and help smaller companies like this. It's just a good story. It's cool to say we're able to help, especially someone in my community that I know does a lot for the community in general.”
They discuss the importance of bringing a diversity of voices to the table, and how it benefits everyone within the tech ecosystem. Matt and his guests also discuss the value of collaboration, and how a variety of players need to work together to bring the latest and greatest technologies to consumers.
“So these things don't have to be complicated. The story resonates a lot and it opens up discussions. What other industries could benefit? What other small businesses could manage that? And how do you actually make these things affordable? Right. That's the that's the other thing. You will not solve their problem if we came up with a solution and it costs $1,000,000 to maintain and to run. This can actually be pretty affordable. So getting the technology in the hands of people that need this is should be the objective of the industry. And yeah, that's what we're here for."
A great use case discussed is how Dell brought 5G to a Boston area brewery which has enabled them to revolutionize their business and make the best tasting beer.
