In the finale of season 7, Matt welcomes back Shelly Palmer to discuss the biggest story of 2023: Generative AI. Shelly is the Professor of Advanced Media in Residence at the Newhouse School of Public Communications, CEO of The Palmer Group and a technology expert and advisor.

“We've been so promiscuous with our data. We didn't notice what social media did to us. We didn't notice what big tech and big data organizations did to us. We didn't notice how it impacted politics. How it impacted mental health of teenagers. What it did to young girls and suicide watches and what it did to self-esteem. What it did to politics and what it did to bullying. Well, until it like, became a thing, it's like AI regulation such that they're ever going to be able to do it, can't happen until they regulate data, which they don't seem to be willing to do. Because if you don't regulate the training data, then you certainly can't regulate AI.”
