From the Network Edge to the Digital Pocket: Season 10 Finale at MWC

What does it take to lead a telecom revolution — from the infrastructure beneath our feet to the intelligence in our hands? In this final episode of Season 10, recorded live at MWC in Barcelona, host Matthew Roberts explores how AI is being deployed by leaders at the forefront of the telecom industry. First, Matt is joined by Ankur Kapoor, Chief Network Officer at T-Mobile, and Nir Hollander, GM & Divisional President of Amdocs. They unpack how T-Mobile’s industry-leading spectrum strategy helped cement its 5G leadership, and how the company is now embracing AI to drive everything from customer experience to network optimization. Together, they reflect on key takeaways from MWC, from programmable networks to the rise of self-healing infrastructure, and offer advice for telcos worldwide. Then Matt sits down with Daniel Hernandez Ortega, SVP of Devices and Digital Ecosystems at Telefonica. From AI-powered Ray-Ban glasses to hybrid cloud-device architectures, Daniel shares what’s shaping the next wave of consumer tech and how AI is becoming part of everyday life, even for his kids. He also dives into the evolving industry landscape, highlighting the rise of new players and what it takes for vendors to stand out in the competitive AI and 5G space. It’s time to wrap up Season 10!

“If you go back starting from the 5G era, nobody actually believed us, nobody thought that layer cake is the thing that's going to work. Everybody was 5G in the initial days, was about millimeter wave. And now it's a pretty proud moment for T -Mobile because across the globe, everybody is implementing a layer cake strategy, right? It's a combination of low, mid and high band. And I think, overall, it's kind of three different pillars that we have at T -Mobile. That's what makes us a leader. It's the best experience, it's the best network, and it's the best value. If you think of any product that you buy in the market, not the wireless, those are the three things that you're looking for, right? You want the best value, you want to get the most of the money you spend. You want the best product, right? In our case, it's a network. And you want the best quality, you want the best experience on it all the time. And that's really what it has been what differentiates T -Mobile from all the carriers across the globe is our customer centricity. That's something we implemented. We don't do anything that's not right for the customer. It's customer love at scale, what we call it in the business. So that's really been the success factor for us.”

“And we definitely want to be there and help T -Mobile in accelerating this journey and making sure that we are getting the zero-touch network in a way that is self-optimized.”
